I'm thinking about welding up all the trim holes and using something similar to what EO's now use for attaching the trim. Seems like it would just make life much easier when it comes time to line it all up, and prevent any possible leaks. Opinions?

When I as building van conversions we use 3M double sided adhesive tape that is about 1/16" or so thick. You had better have it in the right place, cause it was a biatch to get off. Whatever you had to take off was destroyed in the removal process. I wouldn't hesitate to use it on your Tahoe trim.

body shops use 3m double stick tape, i think its like 30 bucks a roll

Oh, I about forgot. If you do go that route, be sure to get 3M's adhesion promoter too. It just insures the stuff will not come off.

I bet I would have to use two layers or something thicker on the lower/side trim because of the deep roll on the edges.

I've lost a few longhorn badges, custom badges, and one CST 10 badge to the 3M tape, and the 3M glue. I would consider it for the light weight trim on the bottom of the truck body, but not the steel stuff.

They make clips for the lower mdgs that use dbl side tape, but once it is on the thickness of the tape and clip don't allow it to sit completely flush with the body.

3M does make a thinner dbl sided tape that will help.

I used "threaded" style clips on the ends of my lowers and then used clips with the skinny 3M tape.

My biggest concern with using tape all the way around would be the mouldings at the front edge of the door. If they lift a little, they may catch on the fender when the door is open and screw something up.
