Re: Ground Strap Location.
I know there should be one towards the front, like a food back from the front of the box on the outside of the frame onthe drivers side... not sure if there is more.

Re: Ground Strap Location.
One from each valve cover to the firewall, one from the frame to the (??) down by the lower radiator hose on the passenger side, and IIRC one up by the water pump to the core support.
These are all guesses but a little stronger than that - Bob

Re: Ground Strap Location.
It's the box that I'm not sure about. I found the ground straps for the cab and engine compartment. I think the box strap connects from the drivers side of the frame a head of the rear tire what I need to know is where does it connect to the box.

Re: Ground Strap Location.
LOL, I was hungry too, that's the funny part.
Off the top of my head, I can't remember where the strap goes on the bed. Mine is missing, and all I remember is the strap on the framerail on my last truck. |

Re: Ground Strap Location.
Here is what have come up with to ground the box of my 70' GMC. This is the factory location for the ground strap to my knowledge. I'm going to make a point of checking trucks till I find one with a ground strap.Every one that I've seen so far is missing theirs.

Re: Ground Strap Location.
Is this important for a "correct" restoration? I like the attention to detail!

Restoration takes on many different meanings depending on who you ask what they feel the meaning is. If you are doing a factory #s correct restoration it is most important that the vehicle be correct down to the smallest detail as it was when it left the factory, in other words the vehicel has to be restored as it was not how you thought it should have been. Hot Rods are not held to any ridged rules so you are free to build the vehicle as you feel it should have been or how you feel you like it keeping in mind that safety is foremost as with any vehicle. Restoration here takes on more of a referbishing as upposed to factory correctness. I like both aspects of the hobby, factory restorations and hot rods. But I still like to see factory details on hot rods. I think it makes a statement that even though this vehicle is modified to suit the owners taste it is clearly a vehicle that is dependable and all things work as it did when new. For resale purposes most people like to be able to be able to follow wiring diagrams or repair manuals. I've seen hot rods that unless you built them yourself you could not repair them very successfully, as all rules to the practical operational side of a automoble were tossed out the window. esll.
