GM crate engines! PLEASE READ.

I have a friend of mine, that has a 92 chevy truck, his engine went south on him, he is looking for a good deal on a GM crate engine. He just wants a stock engine, nothing high performance. Would you guys please give me some links to web site for best deals on crate engine?
Thanks
Sam

You should b able to get the Goodwrench crate at just about any Chevy dealership. Check with the locals.

GW crate engines cost pretty much the same wherever you get them. If you get lucky, places like Scoggin Dickey have internet specials where you only pay a nominal fee for delivery. I got mine for a $35.00 delivery and it arrived the next day. Saved a bunch over the sales tax I would have paid buying it locally.

My local Chevy dealer wanted $500 more plus tax than Scoggin Dickey's price even with a $100 delivery charge. Pays to check around.

Also if you buy locally you can give them the core...and save that 100.00 Call Norman Frede in Clear Lake. we sell long blocks at O'reilly pretty cheap also and come with a 36/36 warranty. I shopped Internet and local and when you have a warranty... who do you want to deal with? an email or a live person in arm's reach?

I found this one while I was surfing one day.
They are in Dallas so you could save the freight.
I have not really compared the priceing to others, and I am not affiliated in any way.
Just passing along the information.

Some Chevy dealers will come close the Scoggin-Dickey price, but most say something like, "That's below my cost." And Scoggin-Dickey actually knows something about the engines they sell, can make recommendations on accessories, etc.

Have you thought about a jasper short block? I think they could be competitive and keep the price down, because you would use his stock components.

gmpp 330/350 vs standard gm replacement 350

speaking of crate motors what are the main diferences besides price of getting on of the 330hp 350's and one of the gm replacement 350's, besides the vortec heads.....are the bottom ends any different?...I guess the main question is what are you paying for on the 330/350 besides the vortec heads....i haven't seen much documentation on the stock crate motors

I'd go with the ZZ4 instead. Aside from more power and torque, you'll get a hydraulic roller cam, more compression, forged crank, and aluminum heads. The 330hp engine has a flat tappet cam, lower compression, cast crank, and iron heads. The price difference is $250 between it and the ZZ4. You're getting a better deal with the ZZ4. Just my $.02.

Never heard of a GM Crate engine with a core charge... I purchased mine from Scoggin Dickey and they didn't have anything of the sort. Good people to do business with. I remember last year about this time they had free shipping on those crate engines, sadly i missed out on that deal Oh well, got mine in and im pleased with it! Good Luck with finding one!
