What box would be better to get? I want the quicker ratio obviously.

AGR $339 +10 shipping and no core

I don't udnerstand what yo mean by "quicker ratio".

Here's the bottom line... I buy that sorta ting from a junkyard. They're almost the last thign to ever be faulty on these trucks and last forever. There's really no reason for them to leak (usually thats a pump problem, but mind you this is all just coming from my personal experiences).

If by "quicker ratio" you mean you want the turnign to be "easier", then you can go with a power gear box from a 73-87 chevy truck. Bolts up the same way and even LOOKS the sme, but you could turn your steering wheel with a pinky finger. I would not recommend this though, because driving on the freeway with it sucks. You have to two-hand it the entire time.

What i mean by quick ratio is less turn lock to lock. I think the stock one is 4.5 LTL and the after market/ newer 76? and up are 3.5 LTL. There is also variable ratio which is from my understanding turns easier going slow but stiffens up at highway speeds. But i may be wrong about that.

Edit: i found this in the link i posted "They have a firmer valving and appropriate ratio gearing for better handling and drivability at highway speeds" (about the veritable ratio)

About the junkyard box, I see where you are coming from. But i feel more comfortable with a new box.

I voted for "other" When the box started leaking on our 71 C20, we got a box from a 78 half ton. Fitting are not metric (fit right up), just get the rag joint with it too as the shafts are different diameter there. Swapped pitman arms and to the newer box and bolted right up. Best part was it only cost $25 and they took it off for that too. (and it doesn't leak). About 1 turn less lock to lock than the old box.
