Correct me if I'm wrong re: differential ID...

I was looking at my 69 Chevy yesterday and decided to check the rear end ID numbers just for the heck of it.

I swapped it many years ago and it I think it came off a 1970 truck.

It's a 12 bolt differential with these numbers:TDE 12 22 W2

TDE--3.07
12----month of Dec.
22----Day of the month
W----Warner, Michigan
2-----this I'm not sure of. One site I found said it was the 2nd work shift??

It's a 307 unless someone changed the carrier and gear during a 37 year span. It's also at least a 70,because it has a 3 letter code. Housing should measure 57" from backing plate to backing plate.

Re: Correct me if I'm wrong re: differential ID...

Thnx, Uncle. I figured the data was correct but some sites differ in the information you get so I wasn't sure. I am fairly certain the gears have never been changed out.

I guess I'm satisfied with that ratio. It's got a worn down 350 with a 350 turbo hydramatic that I took off a 77 Impala and I want to put a crate engine in it. I intend to use it as a daily work truck for lite hauling when I put it back together.
