!!!!Problem!!!!!

This one has me and my dad stumped. Whenever I'm idling and i warming it up or just having some fun once my RPM's hit 2500 or above whenever i let off of the gas it sounds like there is something jingling around somewhre on the passengers side.

We just replaced the starter that had half the gears chewed or chipped off. Could it have something to do with this??

Is the truck an automatic? If so may be the torque converter. Possibly? It is hard to say.

WOW!! Someone else with the same problem as me!!! I have yet to figure it out.....odd thing is, it's done it with both engines. And I don't have heat risers....very odd indeed. Could very possibly be my TH350, I don't know. But it's done it since I've owned the truck.

my friend had the same problem as youre discribing on his 64 tempest. we had no idea what it was. turned out to be old starter shims were in the flywheel cover and were getting thrown around and grinded up

check the flywheel, it could be cracked. I had it happen on a 79 T/A with a 400 in it. It took me about a month to track it down..

I'm thinking more along the lines of muffler now too. When i here it on the highway now it sounds like its coming from just a little ways behind me.

Check your header bolts, mine was making a chirp noise for a while, I thought it was a baffle turned out to be a loose header bolt that I couldn't get to.

Problem Solved!

One more problem down many more to go.

It turned out that it was a shim of the old starter gear. One whole tooth of that gear! Thanks for all the help guys.
No damage done except that there are some chips on the flywheel and the flywheel cover.
