e-brake ideas.

Even though my truck is 4 hours away, I'm still thinking of what needs done.
On my to-do list is an e-brake setup.

I have the actual handle, and the e-brake crossmember is there, but the setup isn't bolted/rivited on.

Can I install an aftermarket setup, from someone like lokar? Has anyone done this? I'm thinking of just converting to a pedal setup.

What are yall's suggestions?

thx

Re: e-brake ideas.

I bolted handle under column where it used to be, and bought lokar cables ,installed them made a bracket under the truck and they work great.

Re: e-brake ideas.

I got cables on ebay bracket just a piece old steel plate I welded to frame and ran both cables, then to handle I spent about100 on all I put new cable from handle to welded bracket I will try and send picture. Just ran all cables then figured where bracket would work best. Dry fitted everything and welded in leave room so rod can be adjusted, really simple and cheap, work better than original.

Re: e-brake ideas.

so which handle did you use? The stock pull type or foot operated? New lokar handle or stock?

And pictures would be awesome.

Re: e-brake ideas.

Hey! That's my truck! The parking brake lever is one I picked up @ a swap meet. I drilled a hole in the vertical part of rise or bump in the trans tunnel - attached an all-thread rod to the handle and made a pivot assembly under the cab - sorry no pictures. I'm not 100% happy with it yet, it will hold the truck on level ground (good enough to pass state inspection) but wouldn't trust it on an incline. Luckily not too many hills in SA,TX and with an auto trans, I never set the brake anyway. I do have a plan in mind and will rework it this winter (once I get my two post lift installed) and I hope for better operation.

Thanks,
Mark

how do you get "moving avatars?" is that a link to something or a mpeg, or what? I see some that are like photobucket type slide shows with a couple views of their trucks that change every second or so. how's that done, anyone know?

Re: e-brake ideas.

the only format that's animated is GIF (graphic interchange format). The only problems with gif's are file size, you can only bring it down to 4 or 5 frames or slides in order to be below the avatar limit (24.4kb)

I just took an existing one and shortened the number of frames and made it smaller overall using adobe imageready (comes with photoshop).

I can make you guys a slideshow one if you want me to. Just give me some pics. Or if theres one on the internet you find, I can try to make it legal avatar size.
