Sound Hokey???????

I was pondering ideas on how to get this power steering gearbox on my 67 tonight and when I actually held it up to the frame I realized it only missed fitting by the thickness of about (3)- 3/8" washers stacked. Would it be too backwoods to space this box with washers? I'd really like to not beat a dent in my frame or notch it to fit since its all painted and ready to go now. I haven't seen any spacers yet that look like they fit my application.
HELP!!!!!!!!!!!

Question space

Not sure what gear box you are using, but if you have a small gap like that and you absolutely have to use the washers, use grade 8 washers.

Or, use small metal plates and have them welded on in place. Then drill through the plate so the holes are lined up. at least this way, you know that the mount is solid.

Either way, good luck!

Lightbulb

you may have the wrong steering box.the right steering box will bolt right to the frame without any washers.any box from a 67 to 76 should bolt up without any mods.

67 Frame is different

I agree fnoblitt the box should fit and in fact it is from a 71 c-10 but the 67 frame has no indention for a p/s box the manual boxes all bolted flat 68 and up all have the p/s option. At anyrate I did bolt the box on today and it only took 2 washers per hole it seems like it will work okay. thanx
