tranny /transfer hook-up question
Do any of you 4x4 guys know of a spine extension to hook a 350 turbo to a 208 transfer case. This set up when in the truck and driving and then was pulled out. My buddy bought it and is putting the tranny/trans back in and there seems to be something missing. The spline out of the tranny won't reach the transfer case. Is there a coupler or something to extend the tranny splines into the tranfer case. Any help would be greatly appreciated. We are trying to get his rig back together.
Thanks for any help in advance. |

Re: tranny /transfer hook-up question
I don't know the answer but if I had to guess I would say you need the adapter that bolts to your tranny and then the transfercase bolts to the adpter.
I have a castiron adapter in between my 465 & 205...I would guess there is one between the 350 & 208 also.

Yes, the adapter btwn the two is there but the two shafts do not come together once inside the adapter/mounting hardware. Any ideas.

Re: tranny /transfer hook-up question
are you using a 2wd 350?? i know a guy that, cut the rear output shaft off a 2wd and used the original adapter off the 208, and it worked. but do at your own risk.

Re: tranny /transfer hook-up question
Depending on what 205 he has there are spline adapters that couple the tranny output shaft (that is splined differently then the 205) does his 205 have a shaft that sticks out? or is it a female connection?

Re: tranny /transfer hook-up question
Again this set up was in the truck and running/driving. Another buddy owned the truck and sold the engine. When they pulled the engine he was not at home so he's not sure what was btwn the two. It is a 350 4wd tranny and a 208 transfer case but there seams to be a spile adaptor or something missing. We can't figure out what was in it to begin with or if someone had it rigged to make it work. In any case the part that made it work is no longer there. If I could paste pictures here I would but I can't seem to get them loaded in.
