From leafs to coils and trailing arms?
Ok I have a '72 3/4 ton Dually that I want to lower. There are 2 options I am considering. One, do a spring under axle conversion which may end up lowering it to severely, or option two, remove the leaf springs completely and install trailing arms, coil springs, and all the little stuff from a 1/2 ton (I have a spare truck) plus I'll have more adjustablity with this setup. My only concern with the trailing arms is will the trailing arms be able to withstand the massive Dana 60 with dual wheels? I'm not looking for any towing capablity, it will be for looks only plus some occassional hot rodding. What do you guys think?

Now that I think about it, how low can you go on the suspension before you have to C-notch? I really don't want to cut the frame at all. I just want to go as low as I can using what I got.

You can usually go 6" without a c-notch. Not sure about using the dually rearend with trailing arms...

Re: From leafs to coils and trailing arms?
How about removing some springs and installing air bags to help out when needed? I plan on putting an Air Over Leaf system on my truck so I can lower it and also have it be functional when needed. Although I have a 1/2 ton 2wd truck.
