How Much is Too Much

The 78Had 6 of 8 wheel studs brake off.Do you think my 72 1/2 could tow it about 13 miles on a trailer.With out damage to the 72.It has a stock 350 th350 tranny and a 12bolt with 3.08s.THe 78 weighs about 5000#.Thanks cory

I would do it, no further than you are going it should be okay. I've towed more than that with my truck with the same combo.

you'll be fine keep the speeds down, don't take off too fast, and give your self PLENTY of room to stop.

I agree to go for it. The truck should pull it fine but the brakes are another story. Allow plenty of stopping distance. What happened with the lugs? I had chrome steel wheels put on a 70' 1/2 ton years ago and it broke wheels studs like crazy until I found out the tire store didn't torque the nuts. Good luck.

We bought new aluminum wheels for it and forgot to have them retorqued at 150 miles
