Installing mufflers, does it matter which way?

Ring Ring, Longhorn man are you there!

I am installing new Walker mufflers on my 69 GMC. They are not marked with a direction flow. Does it matter which way the exhaust goes through them?

They do have an 'A' and a 'B' each stamped on one end. I am thinking 'A' towards the front and 'B' end will have the exhaust coming out.

Any thoughts?

A before B makes sense to me. A in, B out.

Pipe is the same front and rear, I measured with my calipers, 2 1/4 inch inside diameter.

They are Walker universal fit mufflers.

Universal mufflers are usually reversable. Are they round or oval?
