light switch
i just got my truck togather [not finished but togather] all lights working excepy dome and cargo. took it for a ride last night and just before i pulled in my neighbors drive way a headlight flashed bright .then without the engine running i turned them on to see if was still working and the other blew the same way. all other lights still work fine so i figured the dimmer switch shorted no wires seem to have gotten hot or anything. so tonight i put a known to be working dimmer switch and tw new halagen bulbs in and nothing ,still no head lights. i'm gussing it's the switch, maybe caused by a shorting dimmer or maybe it was the switch in the first place. what do you guys think? anything else i should check first? when the lights blew it acualy busted the glass on the filiment in side them on them both.

Re: light switch
My guess is that the alternator was charging too high and blew both lights. The second light was finished off when you turned the lights back on.
I would start by checking the battery voltage and check the alternator output before turning on the new lights. After that, you will want to trouble shoot the dimmer switch and light switch. Jim

Re: light switch
bolt holes for ground wires have little to do with grounding the electricial system you need to take sandpaper remove the paint under the lug on the wire for a good ground
