problem with dash lights - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

the other night i was driving and lost my dash lights completly all my other light outside and the headlights are working fine...the fuse also isnt poped so whatcha think could cause something like this?

Ground on printed circuit on back of dash cluster, or burnt out printed circuit is usually the culprit. What size bulbs do you have in your dash?

I've found the headlight switch to be more problematic than the printed circuit thing... either is a good shot really.

im not sure about the bulbs but im pretty sure they are the right size tho cause they worked ok before this demon...you think that if i replaced the orginal bulbs with red or blue leds it would be bright enough to light the gauges...the idea i have is to just disconect the crappy lights that keep screwing up and use the socket peices on the back of the cluster to house the new leds and just hard wire them into the headlight switch...you think it be bright enough to see? it seems like it would work ok mainly cause the gauges are actually tanslucent but i think red or blue gauges would be pretty slick tho..thanks in advance,
