motor I.D.

my truck has an inline 6cylinder that actually runs pretty awsome, but I am gonna put a 283 in instead. I need to identify the motor. Is there anyway to determine the c.i.d. on the motor? please help thx in advance alot of u guys have already given me alot of info. thank god for this web site. It expands ones knowledge

Yes there is a way to identify the motor. LMC truck catalog has a page in its book that helps you identify your truck's parts, options, and motor I will attach it below. This should help!!

unfortunately it was the right direction, but the info is still not clear. the id number on the plate behind the distributor F0504CAB and then under that is 21W265479. none of these numbers match anything I've seen. thx for trying to help thoughName:  DSCN3011.jpg

yeah, that casting number doesn't show up on any lists, but I did find on another forum that casting number and it ended up being a 250cid.

same one that was put in mine too truckn' I was going to use it until I found an 84 cab and chassis to swap my cab onto. Anybody need a 250? LOL Jerry

68-84 on my cast number which I believe is the same as yours, I may be mistaken. It's been awhile since I researched mine, found out....and...and then the depression set in Until I found the 84 He He He...sorry guys looong day!
