Questions about converting to TBI

Im getting tired of my quadrajet and poor fuel mileage. I just recently rebuilt my 350 and still had its stock intake manifold and heads, only replaced my cam for a rv cam for better lowend torque.

If i want to install a throttle body, can i still use my intake manifold and just get an adapter plate. How much do these conversions usually cost?

Re: Questions about converting to TBI

Its cheapest to get a complete tbi setup -manifold, throttle body, wiring harness etc. You will also need a high pressure fuel pump. The factory one is in the tank, but you could probably use an aftermarket electric one.

The toughest part is the wiring harness and eliminating the stuff you dont need-- there are a few companies out there that will modify a stock computer and wiring harness to run stand alone , "TBI only".

I would expect the whole operation to cost anywhere between $700 and a grand, depending on how much you can get the donor parts for.
Holley also sells a digital tbi system called the pro-jection that might be worth looking into

Re: Questions about converting to TBI

I saw a listing on craigslist for a TBI setup off an 87 that included everything, price was negotiable...
