Re: Remote start
Don't know about a factory remote start, but I have installed several including one in my 04 Avalanche. It is not too difficult. The hardest part for me was to route the main power wires through the firewall to the terminal below the distributor. If you are familiar with what it takes in general that helps. Simplified you need to tap into the parking light and horn circuit, into the starter and two ignition circuits and into the tach signal. You also need a second device that is model specific that will bypass the passlock security feature and will plug into both the starter and the OBD2 plug. This box will also enable the power door locks on the new key fob. It took me about 4 hours. I would plan on longer if this is your first. Also make sure the remote starter kit comes with a wire color diagram for your vehicle that tells you what color wire you are looking for and where to find it. This will make life fairly easy.
Good luck.

Re: Remote start
an 01 doesn't need anything funky for the locks just 03 and up! If your factory remotes work well you can use them! You just hit lock twice to start! I can get you the stuff (either way) and a print out for 125 shipped and provide technical help to install! I have been in the bus. since 1986!

Re: Remote start
all you need is the remote start module and a bypass for the factory antitheft! It doesn't look too bad! I'll include a print out of the wires you connect to and their location!
