Replacement Rear Quarters

I have a buddy that is redoing a 72 4x4 Blazer. It needs rear quarters but I dont think you can buy repops. What is his best bet, Buy shortbox/longbox repops or cut up a parts truck. What works better long or shortbox sideboxes?

Re: Replacement Rear Quarters

They do make a replacement. I just bought mine from a small company in Des Moines call "The Body Parts Store". I think that they ordered them from somewhere in New Jersey. The place out there bought the original molds, then cut them in half to save on shipping costs. I believe that I paid around $160 per panel. If you want more info I can call this place and see what company they order from.

For $160 you didn't buy a full quarter. What you bought was the front half outer skin which is availbale form LMC for $130. We're talking full bedsides.

Re: Replacement Rear Quarters

Sorry for not posting sooner, I have been out of town. Yes, you are right, they aren't complete sides, like I said, they stamp them, then cut them in half, and they are the outer skins--both front and rear. The $160 was per piece, 4 pieces total, shipping included. For contact info check out http://www.bodypartsstore.com/. I'm not sure if they have complete sides, I didn't ask when I bought mine.

Re: Replacement Rear Quarters

Shipping is a killer. They claimed that they cut them in 1/2 just so shipping wouldn't be so bad, so I would hate to see what an entire side would have cost from NJ to Iowa. I did look for some good sides, but they are rare here, in the land of the salted roads, and this was the first time I was able to find a rear 1/4 skin, so I jumped on it.
