Re: trucks bit slugish (NO pun intended)

ok well im going to try the fuil filter cause well ive been running the old tanks to empty to clean it all out. Also i took carb cleaner and sprayed aroung that carb and got no change.

I dont believe it timing and my carberator doesnt get adjested much but ill try that next after the fuel filter. shes also drinking gas so it might be timing or something worse....

ANyone got any other ideas pleace need help i cant think of much else.

Also if it helps here what the engine is it a 1989 tbi engine converted to caberated via edelbrock intake and carberator it also has platuim spark plugs 8mm plug wires and an accel coil pack. iv cant remember the last time i change the cap or rotor so i might take those off and clean them. Other then that truck stock in the engine area.

Re: trucks bit slugish (NO pun intended)

Always ensure your timing is correct before fiddling with the carb. Get a light and set it, make sure your vac advance is working too. Once it's right, then start adjusting the carb. To me it sounds like retarded timing. If the timing is where it should be, then you're running a little lean off idle....start with the accelerator pump.

Re: trucks bit slugish (NO pun intended)

took the truck apart found that nice water and oil build up under valve covers. no water in the oil so i think it got in from the valve covers when i pressure wash the engine. cleaned tht all off and put back on.

Iam know retiming the engine so i know it correct also i didnt like that the cap was croked so thought might as well.

I will most likely change the oil Maybe it only got 500 miles on the last change and this time add a thicking agent casue i think my rear seal is going bad. for a 89 350 with 220,000 miles i guess it about time. Might go find another 350 or just rebuild but not tell i get a new daily driver a 88 vw golf for 350.00 Its not a chevy but if someone hits it o well.
