Decisions, decisions, decisions........68 truck

Picked up another 68 truck. Most rust free original truck I've ever seen. Rockers inner/outer, cab corners.....unreal. The only rust I found was on the passenger lower kick panel and a few spots in the passenger fender cup. That's it!! The front end is almost perfect. I got all of the original paperwork with it. Truck was built in Freemont and shipped to local Albuquerque car dealership. Now the decision, part it out or build it. I've wanted a SWB 67/68 for a while, but I got too many on the burner..........

For the love of all that's holy! Do not part that out! Build it or sell it to someone who will....please!

Btw, is that green/white 3/4T still on the POV lot? It was there middle of August and it was a reeeeeally beautiful truck. Was wishing that I was looking for a 3/4T then.

Looks complete, and in pretty good condition. I would be tempted to keep it as it and restore it, but it mainly depends on how many irons you have in the fire.

Good luck on the decision!

That truck has good bones. Your the owner and you can do as you wish but IMO that truck is a very worthy candidate for a resto. Good rust free truck bodies like that are getting harder to find. Good luck with your decision.

Re: Decisions, decisions, decisions........68 truck

I don't know why you or anyone would even consider parting out a mostly complete, nearly rust free truck. I guess I just think differently, but the idea of parting it would not have even popped in my head. Parting a truck is what you do when there just isn't much use for the truck whole. And even then, it might be a runner that is in such bad condition body wise, you might as well keep it complete because the value of the parts are no higher than a leaving it as a running driving truck.

Have a heart man. Let it live as an excellent start for a nice classic truck.

TWO words....

DRIVE IT!

We've watched you restore truck/subs and you're very gifted. You've admitted that you have too many projects underway. Is parting out a truck not another project?

Why not just drive the thing as is? The truck is in great shape!

Either way, great find!! Congrats!

That's part of the problem. Somebody put the body on a LWB 73-?? 4WD frame.

If it was on the original chassis, I would even think about parting it out, I would just drive it, . However, the only thing really worth anything to me, is the bed, cab and front end.

Ok, in your original post you never mentioned anything about it being on a '73& up frame! That changes everything. How's the workmanship? If it's not a very good swap, I'd part it out. If it's a really good swap....hard to say. I guess it all depends on what your other projects are. Maybe something else needs to go?

If you decide to part it out, will you give me first dibs on the front clip? I have a '72 front clip on my '68n and want to go back to original style.

The swap hadn't progressed very far and what they did, wasn't done very well. I overlooked all of that because the sheet metal is so nice, .

Nice body

Stupid question but why did you move from FL to NM??? I love rust free sheetmetal, but the super hot climate kills it for me.
Just curious. How do you like it there so far?

It may hot here but at least the humidity is low. It was actually hotter in FL when I left.

Good car scene, mountains are kinda cool when compared to pine trees. I still haven't found the beach yet, .
