72 Cab replacement ?

My dad gave me his 1972 Chevy pick-up after owning it for 20 years. The cab is pretty much a rust bucket. What years of truck cabs would fit?

A 71-72 with a cable throttle would be a direct bolt on. The 67-70 trucks have a throttle rod, but can be changed with a little work on the firewall.

That conversion John mentioned can be done like this (or you can weld in the proper sections)...
No-weld throttle conversion

Re: 72 Cab replacement ?

If you want it to look 100% a '72 is what you need, as it has the proper cable throttle and no provision for mounting the mirror on the roof like a '71 would have.

JMO, go with another 72 cab, they are plentiful and easy enough to find. Also to add to the above, I have found that the firewall provisions for mounting the under dash fuse panels/wiring are different on the earlier cabs. Cb

And the e-brake differences; handle -vs- foot brake. The upper left firewall area is totally different between the two.

Re: 72 Cab replacement ?

Not to hijack the thread but.... Will a brake and clutch pedal assembly from a 67 fit into a 72 cab? Are the firewalls or distance to dash different?
