HELP!! Straight 6 with headers, WHAT size dual glass-packs???

Hi, I've got a 75 Stepside with the 250 cubic inch 6 cylinder (with the integral head) and a set of headers I'm just ITCHING to put on it, but don't know how big the mufflers should be.

Any ideas? The headers split the exhaust into duals (3 cylinders per side), and I'd love to have a nice throaty rumble (not TOO quiet either!) . I figure probably just some glass-packs, "Cherry Bombs" or whatever I can find at the local parts store. But I don't know how long the mufflers should be to still have some decent sound to them.

Does anyone know? Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Hmmm I didn't know they made headers that would work on the integrated head.

I ran 2" pipes and cheap glass packs when I did one a couple years ago on a non-integrated head 250.

I have glasspacks bolted straight to the long tube headers on my 350. It's fun for a little while getting to terrorize the whole town but I know it's gonna get old after a few months.

Re: HELP!! Straight 6 with headers, WHAT size dual glass-packs???

Yeah, somebody makes the integral head headers. I bought mine on ebay so I can't give you a dealer name, but since I got mine I've seen several sets on there, usually go pretty cheap as most people aren't interested in them. You have to look close, because a lot of times the sellers aren't aware there is anything different about them, except of course the part that attaches to the head points UP and not sideways.

Anyhow, back to my original question: HOW LONG should the glasspack mufflers be, maximum???? Ones that are made for V8's that sound OK with them could very well over-muffle my straight six! Does anyone know? Thanks.

Well,, I have a ST8 6 with the integrated head but NO header, sure would LOVE to have one!! But I got a purple horney on mine and its been on for 6-7 months now. Sound improves better and better as it breaks in.

But if you ever see another on the ICKBAY PLEASE drop a note and let me or US know
