I have a 70 C-20 with HD springs in the rear. The ride is extremely bouncy. Since I am going to replace the trailing arms, I wanted to replace the springs as well. Can I put standard 1/2 ton springs in? The truck currently sits higher in the rear. Would the 1/2 ton springs level out stance and improve the ride? Any input is appreciated. It has helper springs, too, but it has seen about the last of it's heavy hauling days.

If it's bouncy, you should be looking at the shocks. Yes you can use 1/2 ton spring but you loose the load capacity and ride height. I have a 1/2 ton and I'm running 3/4 ton springs

Yeah, my ride in my 3/4 ton was bouncy, and after pulling the shocks I realized why. They were blown. Toast.

New bushings in the trailing arms + some new shocks and hardware and it should be just fine.
