Has anyone.....

Has anyone built or know where I could find plans for armrests? when I bought my truck it didnt have any armrests in it but you can see the mounting holes in the door panel for them. I dont have the money right now to buy a set from either Year One, LMC Truck or from e-bay, but I have the wood and the tools so I was wondering if anyone else had done this before.

And I have looked for this topic elsewhere on the board and did a search for it and couldnt find it, so if this topic has already been done you can flame me but good for a newbie question thats already been asked .

Re: Has anyone.....

Howdy, and welcome!

I haven't seen this topic before... So there may be someone that has done it out there.

What year truck? Personally, I wouldn't do it unless you absolutely have to have armrests. I'd save up and buy them later.

If you do have to have them and you're not particular on the color or if they're a little run down, you could probably pick some used ones fairly cheap at a salvage yard or from some of the members here.

Heck, if you lived in Texas, I'd let you have an old white one and an old green one I have just to cover up the holes.

5 to 10 bucks at the junk yard, and depending on the color of your panels, you can get vinal die at the parts store for 3 to 7 bucks a can.

Re: Has anyone.....

This board really doesnt flame. We try to help each other out...you might get a good ribbing once in a while, but its all in good clean fun.

When you are ready to start purchasing parts for your ride PLEASE use our board vendors. They help keep this place viable with the fees they pay to be board vendors. The two companys you mentioned might be ok companys, but our guys sell all the same stuff and give excellent personal service.

Click this link and scroll down to where it says vendors. Give em a shot when you're ready. (No Im not a vendor, they are the ones that have their screen names in red) http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/showgroups.php

Welcome to the board

Re: Has anyone.....

My truck is a 71, the previous owner just covered up the holes with a new inner panel on the door (Tan of all colors samew as the dash cover ) the rest of the interior is black with blue showing through the chips. Ive tried two of the local junkyards (only ones I havent checked are the ones up north) and they didnt have any, of course they looked at me like I was stupid for wanting parts for a 71 Chevy but Im used to that look by now.

Thanks for the input and I will check out the vendors on the site and see whats what. Im a DIY'er is the only reason I wanted to know if anyone else had done this themselves.

Im used to ribbing thats no problem. A couple of the other boards Ive been on flamed ppl (especially newbies) for asking a question, then they wondered why ppl left the boards

Again thanks for the info
