Shorten Steering Column
Is it possible to easily shorten the steering column? With the big stock steering wheel it comes way up to my gut. Im not sure if it is or can telescope a bit.

Re: Shorten Steering Column
I just had mine all apart but I can't remember if it is sandwitched between the brackets, or if it bolts to the brackets under the dash. If it is sandwitched, you could cut the shaft down under the hood then loosen everything under the dash and the hole clamp on the engine side of the firewall and slide it forward a little bit. Not sure how much you could get doing that though.
Someone tha tis mroe familiar shoudl chime in soon and clear things up... |

Re: Shorten Steering Column
I asked the same question on the 75-87 boards about my 75. You can check over there for some more ideas. Those old trucks can be a bear as far as belly room is concerned
but its not just guys with a little cushion for the pushin that are suffering --- anyone over 6' with long arms has to deal with it too (guess they didnt think about tall guys or chubby guys when they designed these things) |
