Big Block guys?

Did you move your engine mounts up to get it to fit or did you cut the firewall to get the valve covers to clear..... Don't tell me you beat the firewall with a hammer. That is unexceptable..
Also..
Did you use the stock 65 mounts or did you upgrade to the newer mounts?

Re: Big Block guys?

I used tubular engine stands from performance online, and mounted them in the forward holes. No clearance issues with a big block and pretty tall valvecovers. I am running hydroboost brakes though, and that makes a huge difference on clearance w/ the vacuum booster. Hydroboost = no giant pancake thingy to get in the way.

Re: Big Block guys?

When I did my Burb, I used the '73 and newer mounts and made custom brackets to move it forward just enough to clear the valve covers I wanted to use. I know that may not help if you don't have welding capabilities, but IMO the '73 and newer motor mounts are better. The frame brackets for those mounts may work....IIRC the '81 and newer may work a little better.
