difference between c/k and r
excuse the what may seem to others as a stupid question. I'm new to these I have a 87 r10 silverado. When I'm searching for parts in this case "add a leaf springs" I'm seeing c/k springs but not r what are the differences.
I have alot of questions to ask and from reading for the last week there are a lot of good people here. I will be posting photos of my body off frame up restoration. thanks |

Re: difference between c/k and r
Mid 1987 heralded in the introduction of the "NEW BODY" style trucks and some were even sold as 1987 models. To help dealerships and the aftermarket industry to differeniate between the 2 the newer body style was given the old designation of C (2WD) & K (4WD) while the old body style was regulated to "R" (2WD) & V(4WD). This I believe was because of the surplus of unused cabs & frames they had left over for the regular cab trucks. All 1988 thru 1991 full size blazers, jimmys, crew cabs and suburbans were of the old body style as well and recieved the same "C,R" designation.

Re: difference between c/k and r
Actually it is R/V designations. As long as the body it the same, the trucks are the same. If you are looking for aftermarket parts for an R/V series the 73-87 C/K applies, DON'T get 88-98 C/K parts for an R/V.

Re: difference between c/k and r
If that wasn't confusing enough, my '87 GMC sports a "1500" fender badge.
