Long step
Any body ever take a long step bed from a 67-72, and put it on 73-87 frame then put 73-87 fenders and step on it. I like long beds but I kind of want something different and I was wondering if any one else has done it or seen it done? I really like Steppers. I have never seen a 73-87 long step in person but I know they exist. I just don't want to have to find one I know where there is a pretty decent 67 stepper long bed. It has a decent box that would make an ok donor plus some day I want a 67 short stepper so this truck would be good base for both of these projects.

they actually make those they are rare but some one here actually has a long stepper. but i do think the beds are the same it was the fenders is what would change.
Also i didnt rear all they way throught but like i said as far as i know it will work. bolt hole might need to be changed tho

Yeah I think somebody else has a long step that is white. That I have seen pics. I saw one on evil bay that was a 4x4 73 IIRC.

Why bother making a frankenstein bed ? From 73 all the way up to 87 the stepside longbed was a factory option. They are just extremely uncommon but you do run across them every now and then. I saw an 87 GMC single rear wheel 1 ton that was a stepside longbed. I think I saw parts in LMC for the long stepside bed ? Maybe ?

I am on the same opinion as Pyrotechnic, why assemble a mixture out of two different styles. Especially if you look around and realize how rare long steppers are. I have one on my own and only have seen four or five on pics.
If I remember right LMC offers a complete bed. |

Upon looking through my LMC catalog (because I didnt belive it) LMC does offer the long bed step side, just really expensive.

I am sorry I don't find mine LMC anymore. It was just my opinion because if you have a long bed which I would say is definately rarer than the rest and think about putting step side bed on it I would go with the original one. Maybe its ecause I have one but I love these long steppers.

The beds are supposed to be the same minus the fenders, so yes you should be able to do the swap and have a long step 73-87.
