72 sloppy auto trans linkage - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

I have a 72 2WD heavy half C10, the trans works fine, I just serviced it, the problem is the shift linkage is so sloppy Its in and out of the correct gear by just the slighest touch. Can it be repaired without removal

I pulled the mount off the frame with the pivot on it and welded up the little groove the linkage made, grind down, and new linkage .5 job

That was on my 67. On the 69 I swapped out to a Lokar linkage
