Are aftermarket blazer tanks smaller than stock???
Just curious. Last weekend I was a little low on fuel and was sitting at a light to make a left into the gas station when the motor started dying. I thought, oh crap, she's about to run out! No joke, I actually made it to the pumps and it died. That was close! It was definitely out too, when I went to restart it after, I had to pump it for about 10 seconds.
Anyway, I tapped the tank for the heck of it, sounded pretty hollow, so I filled 'er up. I even went so far as to fill it up, let it settle then stuff it full, and I only managed to get 18.2 gallons in it. I thought blazer/burb tanks were all 21 gallons. I can understand that the pick-up unit can't get all the gas out, but 3 gallons worth left? Anyone else think they have a "small" blazer tank? The tank has the correct blazer/burb sending unit. The tank was a repop I bought off a board member about 2 years ago, I have no idea where he got it from. Just curious ![]() I did do a search ![]() http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...r+tank+gallons http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...r+tank+gallons

I thought they were 21 also, buty since I have never filled mine yet, I dunno. Wonder if it has anything to do with the venting that is making an ir pocket?

Re: Are aftermarket blazer tanks smaller than stock???
Maybe you have more in the tank than what you think? These are not the finest gas gauges and float assemblies?

You know I checked my daughters 72 out one time and I think I came out to around 17 plus a little more to fill and it was pretty much dry. It's a factory tank with a skid plate.

Re: Are aftermarket blazer tanks smaller than stock???
Interesting....
I know the gauges suck. When driving around my truck's fuel gauge varies by 1/8 of a tank from the sloshing fuel. Doesn't really matter if the gauge is 100% correct, I still ran 'er dry and only took 18.2 to fill it. I guess there could have been 3 gallons on the bottom???

Re: Are aftermarket blazer tanks smaller than stock???
The MOST I have ever gotten in my blazer tank is about 17.5 gallons, but I did put FULL-SIZE gas in there. Not that flex-fuel!!!!!
