Help with Oil Please

in my 84 chevy it has a GM goodwench motor . here the deal when i bought it. it only shows a good drop of oil on the dipstick.

when i fill it up it blows it out of the tail pipe and all over the tailgate .

when you let it get back down to were it only show a drop on the stick.
it still hold a great oil presser and it never smoke do it have the wrong dipstick in it.

what could be going wrong.

it hold good presser all the time. how long should the dipstick should be
i thank i will just change the oil and see were 5 quarts put it on the dipstick. thanks for any help

You might have the wrong dipstick for your pan. Assuming you have what appears to be a stock pan, I would do like you suggested, and put 5 quarts in it with a fresh 1 quart oil filter (AC 1218?). That will show you where full is.

i changed the oil and full is full.

the old oil was black now i have to see how long it stays full. could the old oil could have been worn down. and if it still blows it out what could it bee

where does the oil disappear, do you have a leak? If not it probably burns it, which means worn valve guides and damaged valve seals.
