Bench or buckets?!
Personally, I love my bench seat, and don't think I'll ever put buckets in my truck. Something about the bench gives it that feel of an old classic truck, and being able to have a lady slide over and sit in the middle next to me is awesome.
But at the same time, everyone I know with an old truck, that's all they ever talk about. Buckets buckets buckets. They think I'm crazy for liking the bench. Now I know most of the guys that like to keep your vehicles stock will prefer your original bench seat, but what about the guys that are into street trucks? If you were building a lowered street cruiser, what would you want? |

Re: Bench or buckets?!
How funny is this?! Just last weekend my buddy and me fabricated consoles for bucket seats out off a Peugeot limousine and the seating is real nice with lumbarsupport, adjustable height and headrests and the safetybelts were at them too! I gave my bench to a guy with a similar projekt and he wanted to get rid of his single seats! So in case of cruising with my lady iīm on the wrong way but for the longer roadtrip the single seats are more comfortable!

Re: Bench or buckets?!
I'm on the fence about this as well. I like my bench and I like the way it looks in the truck, but sometimes I wish it were more comfy, and I wish I had a console/armrest. If I had unlimited funds, I'd probably go with one of those modern truck seats with the flip up/down jump seat in the middle. I don't think I'd ever go with completely separate buckets though, so I voted bench.

Re: Bench or buckets?!
It funny...when my truck had a bench I wanted buckets...now that I have buckets, I kind of wish I kept the bench (especially with a family started now).
I love the look of buckets, but really love the practicality of a bench.

Re: Bench or buckets?!
My daily driver is a Toyota Sequoia with buckets and center console. I am recently re-married at 45 years old, and when I drive around with my new bride I always reach my right hand all the way over the console to hold hands with her. It's a killer on the lower back. So whenever I get the truck running, it will retain the bench seat so I can get my sweetie sitting right next to me.

Re: Bench or buckets?!
I have a bench in my 77 and want buckets. Since I have a wife and daughter that ride with me on rare occasions, I still have a bench.
I just love the look of the 73-77 low back buckets...

Re: Bench or buckets?!
I like buckets as long as they are lo-backs for a single cab truck ---- i guess i shouldnt even be responding, because i like benches just as much
In my opinion, the factory low back buckets from 88-92 or so, are the only things worth transplanting into a classic. Anything the factory offered during your trucks time frame is good too I should have bought several more sets of these in the early nineties. There was a shop that did Choo Choo Customs type conversions in town for a couple of dealers and they would sell these seats at giveaway prices. Oh well, at one time you could get 69 camaros for 4 grand too |

Re: Bench or buckets?!
I don't mind buckets in Blazers/Suburbans...but they are UGLY in pickups if you can see the back rest through the back window.......just screams buttrocker....to me anyway.......esp. when those buckets came out of a '70's Camaro or a Caddy......

Re: Bench or buckets?!
In a regular cab truck a Bench seat just looks right. Plus it gives kind of a "sleeper" vibe if the truck is quick. I've got a stock bench seat in my 69 Nova and really think I'll keep it. For one, everybody seems to be stuffing buckets into them to the point it's boring. Plus other than factory buckets with the rest of the interior stock, late model seats out of anything look out of place.
If we are talking about a Crew cab, Sub or Blazer I think buckets just work better.

Re: Bench or buckets?!
I'm with BigBlock on this one.
When I had my bench seat I thought buckets would be the answer to all my problems. I put some power leather ones in my truck. I want my bench seat back now. There just isnt enough room to lean the seat back far enough to be comfortable anyway. I'm about 6'1, so the seat has to be all the way back. More than enough head room though.

Re: Bench or buckets?!
Couldn't agree more with you man, couldn't agree more - I got me buckets in my car, only reason I have them in truck too is cause someone already had them put in. If I had a bench I'd keep it, it ain't a race truck so it don't need buckets.

The driverseat has mechanicly adjustable lumbarsupport and adjustable height and the safetybelts are fixed to them so i just had to mount the beltroll! Oh,donīt worry about the white spots on the floor just welded all those little holes shut and gave them rustprotection and it looks similar on the underside!
