Drop = Inner Fender Trimming ?

How much drop can a person go, on a 1/2 ton 67' chevy truck, and not have to trim the inner fenders.

Getting ready to install my front clip.... Realized this may be an issue for me.
The front is a mustang II suspension / crossmember and the front is dropped probably somewhere around 6" or 7". Suspension is coil overs with about 2.5" travel up or down. Probably way more at the tire though.

Tires are a 255 35 20 and about 27" tall overall. on a 9.5" wide wheel. Not sure on the width of the front... I remember it's wider than the stock mustang II setup, but not quite as wide as standard chevy front clip.

I guess i am looking for someone to say, there is lots of room, and it will be fine....
Otherwise, i will perfit the inners and see how much I have to trim.

That sounds like a lot of drop if you're anywhere close to the stock track width. You might get some more answers to this if you try posting it on the suspension board.

Re: Drop = Inner Fender Trimming ?

I set the innder fender up against the cab and lined it up to where the rad support should sit. Just to mock up where the inner fender would be sitting. I think It will be okay... Only because the wheel / tire will sit in a little more than stock, and because my suspension will be fairly stiff, and not have a lot of travel to it.
I have a good 2" clearence above the tire... Of course, my tires are wider than the ones i have on the chassis now... but, i think, it will work.
Can't believe how low this thing sits... It's not laying frame or anything like that... But i haven't ever lowered a truck before... I'll have to try and take some pics sometime.
