What did you get done? 09/16

I was on call this weekend so my ability to do much was limited. I spent Saturday at a High School Volleyball tournament watching my daughter play. Unfortunately she didn't make varsity this year, and our JV team is not doing well. They lost in the 3rd round and went home.

I worked in my yard this morning, and spent some time trying to repair the filter housing for my swimming pool. The housing has developed a crack, and they want 295.00 to replace it. I tried a DevCon patch, but it didn't hold. Looks like I'll be spending the bucks to buy a new lower housing.

I did get something "truck" oriented done. I picked up a few pieces that I had sent to be chrome plated. This eliminates a little bit of polishing billet on my motor, and adds a bit more bling.

What did you get done?

Oh yeah, I added a couple of items to my toolbox today. I am working on a project for my daughters homecoming parade. I really needed a new circular since I gave mine to my guys at the shop. I decided this one was perfect for the job I was doing.....

Got the yard work done. Pressure washed the back patio.
Pulled the 86 out of the garage and finally snapped some new pics.
Washed my 07 GMC.

But wait, there more! For just a few dollars more I couldn't resist the multi-value pack that included not one, but TWO batteries ( a regular 99.00 value) AND a charger, AND an 18v driver/drill as well. WOW! What an amazing deal....

Re: What did you get done? 09/16

well My 86 silverado died so i did a compression check to see what i had done. I got to pistion number 4 and there was water on the plug so off came the heads. so know the engine is all apart and i need to see how bad the heads are so im going to send those the a machine shop unless i find a good set of 87-92 heads sto replace my 89s.

Also i got a daily driver a vw golf 1986 it a 1.8 4 cylinder with a 5 speed 2 door. its actually fun to drive even if half the things are on toggle switches to work.

Went by the Arlington swap meet for a few mins on Fri night. I had to do the power-walk since everyone was leaving or covering up their stuff but I did manage to grad a decent set of wheel tubs for my 68.

Sat was quality time w/the family unit & I worked from 7a-9p today. Not much truck related other than the swapmeet.

Re: What did you get done? 09/16

I got the Edelbrock 1405 installed on my motor. I pulled the electric choke off a worn out 1406 I had and put it on the new carb. I drove back to Kingsville and it seems to be getting the same or better gas mileage as the Q-Jet, except it just has ton more power now.

Re: What did you get done? 09/16

I didn't get much done...

I finished milling the choke horn off my Holley 3310 and swapped it for the Edelbrock 750 on my 84's 383. I also added a new K&N filter and a 1" carb spacer... While I was already there, I touched up the core support, and painted the grill and headlight bezels.

I've been trying to get ready for the biggest show in the area this weekend... I've got some more details to attend to, but otherwise my SWB is nearly ready for the show... I've still got to route my plug wires a little differently, replace the filler panel behind my bumper and show-detail everything...

I changed the oil and detailed my 97 before taking it to the dirt track to get covered with dust again... Oh well, it was a pretty good weekend...

Re: What did you get done? 09/16

My rustride failed emissions test on Saturday, so I spent a fair amount of time trying to lean out the carb enough to get it to stop smoking from the exhaust. Never actually got it to stop smoking, so I ordered a new Edelbrock 1405.

Since the rustride's my daily, I had to go through a ton of cleaning out sister-in-law's Civic hatchback so I can drive it in the meantime. I had to battle a bunch of crap stacked in the car, along with a dead battery, ants, spider eggs in the storage unit, and flat tires. All to drive a car that's smaller than my average poop.

I am looking forward to decent MPG for a week or so, though. I also scored some sport mirrors from a board member, which should be here sometime early this week. Maybe I'll keep this tiny little car for another week or two and replace the door hinge pins in my rustride while I got it down.

Oh, and Bagged74, that's a sweet dually

Re: What did you get done? 09/16

Worked on my '83 on Friday. Installed an electric fuel pump because the fuel pump lobe on the cam flattened out. Took it for a spin, and it ran fine for a while, then the carb started flooding out. It needs to be rebuilt or replaced.

On Saturday I did some work on my '65 project. I pressure washed the frame, prepped it up and shot it black. Looks good. I always forget to take my camera when I go out to work on this truck.

Re: What did you get done? 09/16

Well I got the floors in the 83 cover with that rubberized roof coating and then covered in plastic after drying for a couple days. Got my horn working, and got the high beam working on the drivers side without having to change the bulb.

Also went and look at a 350 engine on Friday that the guy wants 150$ for it with a mild cam in it. But it will most likely need to get rebuilt for the simple reason it has been sitting for a while. It has less than 70,000 original miles on it and it came from a 74 Lemans. The Canadian version of the Lemans had a chevy engine in it.

Put a 3.3L V6 Mopar together after a head gasket job, tightened up a 700R4 pan to stop it from leaking, switched my truck's vacuum advance over to ported vacuum to see how I like that, and that's about it.

Got to see the UT Vols play football, well sorry they got A$$ kick by FL 59-20, so after 8 beers I did a little thinking about how I could get my top off my Blazer. Well check it out and let me know what you think. I can take it off by my self and put it on by my self. Now I don't have to have someone help me out.

Started bodywork. Removed all emblems and bodyside moldings. Welded up all the holes then grinded them down. I'll glaze them this week.
