Woohoo!!! Finally PS
I finally got my power steering hooked up tonight!
 As with everything, I've been working on it really slow on it and I had problems, but got a wild hair and decided to bang it out. What a difference! It actually steers too good now...maybe even oversteers. I barely move the wheel & it takes off & wants to keep going like a sports car! I just need to get it aligned and I'll be all set.

I remember my dad driving his 71 GMC for years without power steering. After a vacation one year he went to a salvage yard & got the parts to put it on. The wheel turned so easy that he thought he forgot to install the column back up. You could almost spin it.
Im done blabbering now. Congrats on your finished project...

Thanks corn. Yes, you can pretty much drive it w/ one finger now...that is goona take some getting used to.

I went with the ps from a '77 quad cab- it's 3 1/4 turns lock-to-lock and I can literally steer it with my pinky finger. I'll never go back to manual steering in this!

Congrats on the new "toy." I remember my grandpa steering his 72 one ton with his finger when I was a kid and I thought that was so cool!

Congrats! I think you can change/modify the return spring in the pump to reduce the sensitivity of the steering.

congrats! I did that upgrade earlier this summer, and am so happy with it. I kept the big steering wheel too because I love it.

I still have the 68 steering wheel; I love it too. I'm still getting used to it, but I think I need to modify it as Rob suggested because it is too damn touchy.

I put power steering on a friend's 70 car hauler. That night going home he ran all up on a curb not expecting it to turn so easily. It was hilarious! One of the very best improvements one can make on these old trucks.
