Pics of two rust spots-- How much to fix it?

One of the trucks I am looking at (considering buying) has a couple of rust areas. Most of the truck is rust free, however. Sorry I don't have better pics. I know the one of the door is not a good pic, but that is all I have for now. Thoughts based on these so-so pictures?

I won't have the time to fix it myself so that is why I'd like to get a rough idea on the cost.

Is that underside part a piece that would just be removed and a new one welded in? How would it be fixed?

the piece that is rusted underneath is the cab mount. Extremely cheap to buy, i believe they are about maybe 12 or 13 dollars canadian. Haven't heard of a 67-72 where at least one of the cab mounts hasn't faced some rust in its lifetime. Simple to replace. Best of luck

You guys and your texas trucks. Do you know how hard it would be to find a truck with that little rust in VA?

I have the same problem with both my cab supports or mounts. Do they just unbolt? I need to take a closer look. Or are they tac welded and bolted. I can see the bolts in the photo? How about the other 2 are they welded in? How hard is to replace them?

The bolts on the front cab mounts are for the "A" Pillar. The cab support is spot welded to the floor. If you pull up the carpet you can see small "dimples" that are about 1/4" around or so - those are the spot welds - you have to drill them out.

The one pictured isn't that bad so you could probably splice the new piece into the old and not have to worry about getting into the cab mount area.

I agree that they are cheap, but simple to replace is a matter of opinion... It takes lots of cutting, grinding, welding and cussing to replace cab supports. But you can do it, it's labor intensive, but worth the effort.

DON'T even consider the slip-on style! The old ones need to be cut out.

Good luck, Rg
