What color should I go with?

I think a red interior just makes it pop! Check out this blazer that has a red interior and let me know if I should make mine red.

Re: What color should I go with?

Here is my blazer now. This interior is about 12 years old, but in good shape. I am just looking for a new look.

Re: What color should I go with?

Your gray setup is the safe choice (but so would bauge and taupe, etc)

but that red really pops --- i'm not even sure i could drive that everyday or it would get on my nerves, but its sharp for a weekend cruiser --- in that first gen, it looks like something out of Graceland, or a White Stripes video. If that gray tweed is 12 years old, then your truck is pampered, ----- i would say -- if it is financially possible, --- saran wrap the gray in storage, swap in the red leather --- then 5 years from now, switch back to gray.

Re: What color should I go with?

I like the red. It reminds me of my dad's 57 Chevy with the bright red interior. Red will set it apart from a sea of grey interiors that you see in most custom applications.

Go with any color... red, blue, whatever, but ditch the grey tweeeed it is so 90's and over-done.

Leather or a nice vinyl in a bold color with give it pop.

Re: What color should I go with?

I wouldn't do the red, but only because I hate red. I would suggest a nice beige (neutral). I think it looks classy with the blcak. I would change up the console a bit, and maybe find some low back seats, and cover it all with leather. Of course, that's just my opinion.

Re: What color should I go with?

Man, I just don't know what to do now.

I will be doing leather with a new console, then I am thinking about cutting my seats to make them low back seats. The color thing is just up in the air.

Re: What color should I go with?

Ok- no offense to your current interior. Grey is definately the "safe" color, but I agree with whoever said that the sea of red is a little much. I KNOW I couldn't drive that for very long without getting ANGRY...

I do agree however, that the RED definately makes it stand out. So maybe a combo of REd seats and black carpet or something.

If a retro look is what you are going for, maybe a cool houndstooth pattern would look better. Think 69 Camaro pace car. I think the orange houndstooth would make an interesting statement without being as "in your face" as the red. Another thought I had when I saw your thread is a cool turquoise color from the early sixties would look nice too.

There are plenty of new car interior shades that would look good with your truck too.

Oh and BTW- definately do some low back seats... Again no offense, but to me the large high back buckets from the late seventies remind me of those cheap dinnette chairs with casters from the same era..... And I am old enough to remember my folks having a set of those...

As always- opinions are like.......

Re: What color should I go with?

Ok, lets break it down. Since you devised a new system to remove your top, its obvious that you will spend more time topless. With that in mind, the low back buckets will look better.

I would buy a set low backs (there is one in the classified right now) and new door panels. Then I would put the front seats, door panels, console, etc on Craigslist. Despite tweed being rather dated, I'll bet it would sell since it's still in great shape.

With that done take a look at the outside of your truck. Is it restored? No! Is it a mild custom? Yes! Then the direction you want to go has already been decided.

Now you need to decide on color. In my opinion, black on black is boooooring. It does absolutely nothing to add spice to a black vehicle.

Since you have had gray for a while, I'm sure you don't want to go back with it again, but a full on ultra leather in gray would look good, and be very different from what you already have.

Tan, taupe or beige will look awesome and be a good neutral color that will be pleasing for a long time. It can be accented with contrasting colors if you want to bring it up a notch.

Do you want to knock peoples socks off? Do you want to live on the edge of love or hate? Have you got a big pair and want to stand out in the crowd? GO WITH RED! Not wimpy wanna be red, but bright bold scream at ya red. That pic you posted is a perfect example of what I'm talking about.

C'mon, don't be skeert....
