Single stage black sucks to clean!

I just now got around to washing my 68. The PO painted it SS black. It looks good from 5 feet on a good day but it has it's flaws. It has rained here off and on the past month and I made the time today to take care of it. I don't have pics as of yet but I've already spent 4 hours buffing it with a power buffer and fine buffing compound by 3M. I love black but when I go to repaint I'll go BC/CC. Does anyone have any tips besides constantly washing the truck after I get it clean to keep it looking good? Thanks.....Mikey

Re: Single stage black sucks to clean!

Ever try Fireglaze? It's only sold online that I know of - it's a polymer of some sort - about $90/gal - when I last bought it, it came as 4 quart bottles. I've put it on 2 new vehicles, my 40' house boat and the dingy - still haven't used a whole quart yet! It goes on like regular car wax and wipes off even easier - it shines like water forever - no kidding - it says you only need to redo it once every 3 years. Bugs and tar almost just wipe off. 95% clean just by rinsing the vehicle off. I did the bottom of my 10' dingy - while it was off the trailer, I redid the carpet on the bunks - when I flipped the dingy back on the trailer, I gave a push from the side to line it up - the stuff is so hard/slick, the boat slide sideways off the otherside of the trailer and back onto the ground! It was funny.... Make sure you claybar the vehicle first and go over it completely so you don't "seal" in any debris before you apply the stuff. I don't promote stuff unless it's good, and this stuff is good! Two more quick "testimonies" - Buddy had a brand new Dodge dually - had it detailed - when he picked it up, there were swirl marks all over the hood and fenders - he flipped! They tried several things to get it squared away but no dice - he was afraid they were going to have to repaint. I sold him a quart of mine - they put it on - truck looks beautiful (and this is 2 years later mind you). Also sold a quart to another friend - he put on his wife's new car - she was skeptical but when it was done, she liked how the hood and roof looked like "reflecting pools" - leaning his butt against the car, he crossed his arms, tossed his head back and proceded to slide sideways across the fender and could get a grip on the car until he hit the ground.. hahahah too funny - stuff is nice. Sorry for the long post but it is what it is.
