diesel torque convertor question?
I was telling my uncle about this website the other day and commenting on how he would love it because he is a huge chevy truck nut. Anyways he wanted me to ask a question on here and since than I have been curious myself. He picked up a 80's somethig 3/4 ton with a bad diesel motor in it and was going to swap in a 350. So our brains got to thinking about what size torque convertor came with the diesel. Anyone know the answer?

Re: diesel torque convertor question?
My assumption would be that it's a very low stall speed, in that diesels make tremendous torque at very low rpm.

Re: diesel torque convertor question?
Since my truck was originally equiped with the 350 olds diesel and then with a 6.2 liter diesel from an army humvee i was told that there is no difference except for the lockup function.I had to get a new th 350 because the bigger diesel destroyed the tired tranny and now i have the 350 gas engine with that th 350 without changing anything!

Re: diesel torque convertor question?
I am under the impression that when swapping out a deisel for gas you have to change the torque converter and the vaccum modulator (or solenoid?).
Don't know why exactly but have been told that on more than one occasion.

Re: diesel torque convertor question?
Its a heavier duty unit and lower stall speed vs gas.
