I could use some wiring schematic info

I've posted an alternators (mopars) question in the electrical section - not getting much visibility so I'm trying to paste a link here - if any of you all wouldn't mind taking a quick gander at it, I'd much appreciate it.... here goes.....

Check to make sure the voltage regulator is grounded to the same frame the battery & engine are or it wont work properly.

What difference does it make as long as it is grounded?
