Wink Can Someone Please Explain Various Model Designations?

Can someone tell me (or show me a link or something) of all the different models? I am in the market for a 72 chev/gmc and am getting confused with cheyenne, super cheyenne, sierra, cst, cst1500, when looking through the local ads.

i understand the c10, k20 stuff from the vin's but it's just the option packages i'm not finding any info about.

Also, is it my imagination, or do more GMC's come with the two tone paint scheme's (more than chevy's)? Just an observation...

thanks in advance...

Most of the optional packages i.e.: (Cstom, CST, Cheyenne, Super)
Have to do with different Trim levels (Interior and outside chrome)
Different packages included different options, or it appears that options were bundled together to form a package.
Most of the trucks have now lost much of their originality.
The most desirable of these trucks are the ones with the most options, there were also special packages and editions within certain years.
Chevrolet has not provided a whole lot of the data for these trucks like they have for other models like the corvette of camaro.
This board is one of the most comprehensive that you will find.
There is something that shows up here everyday that these very knowledgeable truck fans did not know about or ever seen.

Welcome to the board.
Have fun with those trucks

In 72 Chevy offered four trim levels according to the sales brochure. Top of the line was Cheyenne Super. This had the woodgrain trim and houndstooth seat inserts among other things. Next was the Cheyenne, then the Custom Deluxe, then the Custom.
I can't help you with the GMC stuff since I don't have one but somebody here will be able to help.
If you have something more specific don't hesitate to ask.
