Who makes these wheels, and will they fit?

Took this picture at a car show but couldn't find the owner... they look like 19s, some sort of Torq Thrust Rim. Is it American Racing Equipment, or someone else? I know a lot of people make these... this exact combo would look great, I think.

What sizes would fit on a 73-87? How about a lowered/bagged 73-87? Would 19x8 or 19x9 all around be too big?

Here's the pic:

Edit:

Think I got it...

Those look like American Racing TT2's to me . Classic87 just put a set of 20's on the white truck that look nice . You might pm him and ask about any issues . Frank

Re: Who makes these wheels, and will they fit?

Unless I'm mistaken, the Torq-thrust Ms are intended for newer vehicles that need more positive offset, like newer Mustangs and Camaros.

KMK, I agree with Rc 415 - I think they're American Racing Torq-Thrust IIs. You can view them here. You can view them on a truck similar to ours by going here and clicking on the "wheel visualizer" app. Once in, pick "Chevrolet - Truck/SUV" as your make and "Silver 1500 SWB Reg. Cab 4x2 80-87" as your model and "American Racing" as your wheel brand and pick the Tor-Thrust IIs to the right as the individual wheel. You can then pick wheel/tire sizes and the color of the truck and the stance. Here's what I came up with for a black one like yours with a couple inches of lowering it.

as far as sizes go almost anything will fit - but 20s seem to be the popular choice and they fill up the wheel well quite nicely.

If you like those, you might want to consider the Coy's version of them. They are available in chrome....

N2TRUX is correct but he posted the size and backspace of my old wheels.

The Coys are
Front 20x8.5 5.25 backspace 255/40/20
Rear 20x10 5" backspace 295/40/20
I will not need a spacer with this combination.

I am faily sure for the 73-87 years the rear backspace should be 5.5"

Re: Who makes these wheels, and will they fit?

I personally like the TTII's better... yes they are more expensive and I hear people say "everyone has TTII's"-- but there is a reason for that. IMO the Coys' rim is too smooth-- nothing to break up the wheel. As you see on the TTII's the wheel is stepped to the center... and if you order anything 18" and above you can get the backspacing that you desire. I believe that the Coys do not give you that option... and if you do decide to "bag" your ride in the future- I think you will face problems on the front with the standard offset of the Coys. Again... JMO.

I like the TTIIs also and considered them --- I just like the soft lip better. I really did not know they were more expensive and really that was not a concern. I am already in so deep another 500 or 600 would not have made much difference.

The 5.25" backspace should not be a problem with a bagged truck.

Your truck sits real nice -- what backspace are you running?

Yeah, I thought it would never happen either... but now I'm thinking of 20x8 TTIIs or those Coys that Ken posted... and then a drop, probably on bags if I can afford it... and then remove the big mirrors and put the sport mirrors and a sport bumper on and call it a day.

And I'd keep all the original parts so I could put it back to stock in a weekend... only concern would be cutting/filling on the door for the sport mirrors and also paying for it all

Eagle Wheels also make a variation of the TT2 with a cheaper price tag. A lot of people around town run these as well.

Re: Who makes these wheels, and will they fit?

It's really just a matter of preference. The TT II's are a classic look and while they have seen a lot of use, I don't think they will ever go out of style.

The Coy's are just one of many variations of the TT II's, but I think they did a great job of smoothing them out with the small center cap, and refined spoke. They also are available in chrome for a very moderate price.

Eagle make a copy of the TTII's as well, and they look great when they are new. The only problem is keeping them looking new. They don't use the same quality of casting as others and it shows in the long run. Because they are more porous they tend do dull quicker than other wheels.

Kurt, not trying to jack your thread with all the wheel talk. If you want an opinion, you may consider the wheels and a static drop for now. Keep in mind if you go this way, nothing will be wasted if you decide to bag it later. The only thing that might change is the height of tires you choose.

You know we all love your truck like it is, but support your choice to personalize it too....

Re: Who makes these wheels, and will they fit?

I totally agree about the Eagle copies. I actually had them on the truck in my avatar for a short time. They looked great when new and looked really bad in a few short months. Added to that they did not make the correct backspace for my truck and I had to use a spacer.

I should have bought the Coys to begin with.
