New guy with question. My 4x4 Blazer originally had a manual tranny. The guy i bought it from had a 350 automatic installed but did not hook up the speedo cable. I removed the old cable it's about 6 feet long and not nearly long enough to reach the back of the trans case on the passenger side. Is this supposed to be a one piece cable? If so, does anyone know how long it is and where i can order one?

The transfer case sits in the same position regardless of whether it is a TH350 or a SM465. The 465/205 uses a long adapter that puts the t-case back in the same spot as with the automatic. Even a 3 speed with a Dana 20 case has the rear output of the t-case in almost exactly the same position. All available combos used the same speedo cable. Otherwise I have no help for your problem.

Somehow I'm wondering if your transfer case is not the stock one.

All mine have the speedometer cable go on the drivers side with the stock transfer cases..

measure how long you need and make sure that the ends of the cable you have now are proper to mount on speedo and transfer case then take the old cable with you to an auto parts store and tell them you need a speedo cable of XLENGTH and make sure the ends are the same as what you got

I checked the ID plate on the T-case and it identifies NP-205 as the case. I'm wondering if the rear output retainer (the part that the speedo cable connects to) was placed in the wrong position the last time this T-case was rebuilt. Is this possible or does the T-case have them in both positions? I have attached a picture taken from the rear of my blazer on the passenger side for everyone to see. Thanks again for all the help!

Here's a pic of the SM465 and NP205 I put in my K5. I circled the speedo connection location. This combo was out of a different truck but this is the location I'm used to seeing on our years of trucks.
