The Door Identity??? Who is to blame?

I just picked up a better driver's door this weekend for my 67 GMC. The window regulator is frozen and I thinking about cutting off the lower leg to get it out. What I read was that the 72 reg. is not the same as 67-71.
The newer door does have the upper and lower trim (so I think this puts it 70-72) but did not have a mirror mounted (I think 72 had a unique mirror.) How can I best Identify this door before I find out that I cannot get my current regulator to fit in. Also is there a better way to get out the rusty reg? The window is in the up position and the front window guide is in the way of the control backing out.

Re: The Door Identity??? Who is to blame?

you could measure the length of the window's crank shaft (for lack of better word). 72 was longer due to the plastic door panels.

Another tell tale sign, since the 72 had the plastic door panels, it has bigger holes in the door to use the plastic clips, wheras the older doors have screw holes to hold the panel on.

hope that helps

look for a screw in the inside of the door, abov the panel, below the wingvent.
If it is there, it's a 72.

The regulators are identical as far as interchangeability goes. The shanks for the levers are just longer.
Upper and lower trim on 69-72.
71/72 had the chrome spost mirror.Basically a car-type mirror.
Only`72 door have a dimple stamped below the window post on the inside with a scew-hole.
Remove the wing vent assembly to get the regulator out.

Were they runnin` low on ink when you paid your subscription?Just wondering how you got a lighter shade for your user name...interesting.
