83 K-10 with newer 35's? Should I buy it?

Looking for a good beater truck for winter and runs to get mulch or Lowes. There is a local guy with an 83 K-10, bad 305, 700R tranny (said to be good), NP208 TC, 4 inch skyjacker lift with 35" Mud Kings (great tread), and factory rallies. Truck "should" only need new engine.... it passed inspection last Jan so it should be fairly sound.... It does have average rust but not bad and it's greasy underneath... I figure the tires and rims are worth $400 so you can't go wrong...

$400 with title?

The wife rolled her eyes and doesn't want the yard turning into a junkyard....

Thoughts...

Heck I would pick it up, even if the engine is bad it doesn't cost much for old cluncker that works.

Also It's not a junk yard till you have more then 4 vehicles not running.

Re: 83 K-10 with newer 35's? Should I buy it?

I'd take it..even though it's from the fugly years.. Don't get me wrong,I've got a 79 4wd but I dont care about it half as much as my 67-72s,even the non running ones It does run, drive, and serve it's purpose though.
There is over $400 in parts there, but it may turn up needing more than just a motor.I think with a reman 350 from a local auto parts store in it,it would be a good winter beater although it doesnt look that bad from the pictures.Even if you put a reman motor in it,drove it for the winter and resold it,you would probably get over $2000-$3000 for it,IMO.

I figured I would find a nice running 350 off a board member for $500 or so...

I'd pay $400 for just the tires as slong as they were at least 75% anyways. If I had $400

I'd buy that in a heartbeat if it were closer. I got a 307 I could slide in there
