Correct position for rear-view mirror ???

Well I ordered a few items that I need for my truck....one of those items was a rear view mirror.

Also I ordered a glovebox liner, glovebox light, and a dome light.

Anyway, there are now holes in the roof of my truck....

Was a rear-view optional or something ?? It doesn't look like they were filled in either.

Also, when I got the truck, there was a "glue on windshield" type sitting on the floor, but that isn't stock is it ??

So anyway, where actually should I mount it ??

Sorry these pictures suck because of the cell phone cam use....

Thanks

Re: Correct position for rear-view mirror ???

From what i can tell rear view mirrors were optional till 66. Mine doesn't have one either. There was never a stick on one as far as I know either.

Re: Correct position for rear-view mirror ???

The interior mounted rear-view mirror was not optional, but standard equipment on the 1960-1966 Chevy light-duty trucks, according to Chevrolet Pickup Color History book, published in 1994 by MBI Publishing Company and available from www.motorbooks.com. The rear-view mirrors that became standard equipment in 1966, were the exterior, door-mounted rear-view mirrors.

The factory interior rear-view mirror is centered left-to-right and the first two holes are 3/4" above the windshield grommet and the top hole is 2-1/2" above the windshield grommet.

I hope this information is helpful.

Re: Correct position for rear-view mirror ???

My 1962 k20 dont have one either and there are no holes for one, but my 1965 k20 has a stock mirror. It was put over the 4x4 instructions. Wonder if maybe it was a dealer prep thing that got done if the dealer felt like it.
