When I bought my blazer it had a Hurst floor shifter (automatic) and it would start in any gear. The previous owner must have removed the neutral safety switch. This weekend I ripped out the floor shifter and replaced all of the original linkage to make it a column shifter again, but I’m not sure were the neutral safety switch is or was. I assume it would be wired in line of my ignition switch, is that true? Any info would help. Thanks. BTW if anyone in the Sacramento area wants a dual gate Hurst floor shifter come and get it for free. All linkage included. I will not ship it.

The N\S switch should be screwed to the upper side of the steering column near the firewall.

I agree...if you lay down on the floor of your truck it should be on the top of the steering colum about 6 inches away from the firewall....maybe a little more or less

I think I see what you are talking about. I found a V shaped plug with a light green and a green wire to it. It is not hooked up. I also saw a plug (2 female spade) with two larger purple wires that was disconnected from ?? and jumped across (w/ 2 male spade).

Yep those are the wires. The purple ones go on the right and the green goes on the left. The plugs on the safety switch face the driver. I told you the order they go for if you are looking at the plugs on the switch. .....Hope that makes sense.

if it was a automatic its gonna be a dual purpose switch, neutral and backup switch, the backup switch conectors are perpendicular to eachother like a greater than sign " < (you get the idea)" the other should be parallel(if i remember right) thats your neutral safety. you only need the dual neutral switch if you are going automatic. otherwise if your doing 3 on tree your gonna need a backup switch only. hope that helped.

Mine is set up like that two with a Hurst. I will try to start it in neutral and double check the switch. Thanks for the heads up.
