07 yukon/tahoe leather 3rd row install
esteemed blazer gurus,
i'm going to buy a black leather 07 50/50 3rd row today for my 71. need some advice/tips on this venture. particularly on how they will mount, not sure what mounting plates? the newer modells have the mounts recessed so they don't stick up. one guy suggested going to the junk yard and torching out the entire piece on a new tahoe and then grafting it in to the blazer. (i'd like to take the pathway of least resistance but still make it nice) anyone have any previous experience? pics? anything? thanks in advance.

Re: 07 yukon/tahoe leather 3rd row install
Hopfully someone will have done this and will have the answers for you. I have been inquiring about this for months and months and still I have not found anyone who has actually completed this with these seats. I have a set as well that came out of a 00-06 Tahoe that I want to install. I have only seen pictures of installed sets prior to these years so far.

Re: 07 yukon/tahoe leather 3rd row install
I was going to go the same route but changed my mind. I like the lower backrest of the 90s 3rd row seats, and it matched my fronts.
Heres the link for the install. If you go to the next page you can see it with all the interior. my blazer interior |

Re: 07 yukon/tahoe leather 3rd row install
My friend bolted 2x4's on the original holes then attached new mounts to it,and covered it back with carpet. It looked pretty nice. Also did that with a newer model seats in the front.

Re: 07 yukon/tahoe leather 3rd row install
ok boyz...here they are...just purchased brand spankin new today, never even sat in! (seats were removed by custom limo company)
these are actually 2007 escalade black leather seats! second row captains chairs are going in the front (driver/passenger)...both fold forward for rear entry. i'll be sticking with lap belts for this application because captains don't have integrated belts as you can tell. third row is pretty standard. paid $800 total which i don't think is a bad deal at all. now for the tricky part....installation

Re: 07 yukon/tahoe leather 3rd row install
Wow! 800 Is A Steal! ANY IDEA HOW ADJUSTABLE THE 2ND ROWS ARE? UP/DOWN, FWD/BACK? RECLINE? THEY WOULD BE ABOUT PERFECT IF THEY HAD THAT 3-POINT BELT...
HOPE YOU POST PROGRESS AND HOW-TO.

Re: 07 yukon/tahoe leather 3rd row install
yeah i had looked for the sierra/silverado front seat in the extended cab trucks because it had the integrated belt and rear access features but just couldn't find em new leather.
plus i couldn't pass up this smokin deal! i don't mind using the lap belts anyhow. don't want to get an accident with the lap belt but "it is what it is". that's what i'm runnin now anyways.

Re: 07 yukon/tahoe leather 3rd row install
Considering what those 50/50 3rd rows can go for on Ebay, I would say that you did well and they are brand new to boot! Hopefully you can (me too!) find a good and cost effecient way to mount up those seats in the back without breaking the bank or a major modification.

Re: 07 yukon/tahoe leather 3rd row install
basically my wife...she wants me to put in the third row w/integrated seat belts so the kids have 3 point belts. so then of course i have to match the third row with driver/passenger seats.

Re: 07 yukon/tahoe leather 3rd row install
ok, so here's the next step...
just got off the phone w/the salvage yard, all 8 mounts are gonna run $150. so these mounts are going to be grafted in to the bed. apparently all mounts are the same from 00-07 in tahoes/yukons/escalades if you have the 50/50 3rd row.

Re: 07 yukon/tahoe leather 3rd row install
Seams to me it would be more practical to just fab up some custom mounts...I would look into that before dropping all that coin on something you could make for much much less...

Re: 07 yukon/tahoe leather 3rd row install
yeah i've heard that from a couple of other guys. i have to admit, i'm not a mechanically inclined individual and therefore i'm relying on other people for advice in this regard. the guy who is doing the work for me who has done many of these before said he felt it was better to use the factory piece instead of fabbing one up. he thought it was safer and not that much more expensive than fabbing the brackets.

Re: 07 yukon/tahoe leather 3rd row install
hey, wait a minute....will these work?
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Third...QQcmdZViewItem appears these mount directly to the truck bed. holes need to be drilled but that looks like that's all you need to do. can someone advise? p.s. this will save me a lot of money if so

I have been looking at those too on Ebay. Here is a thread with pictures I came across with how they look mounted: http://z71tahoe-suburban.com/iboard/...?showtopic=795 I just cannot decide which way to go, either have someone fabricate the floor or cut out a section of flooring out of Tahoe and have it welded in. Either way, I am going to have to have someone do it for me due to my extreme lack of skills. |

Re: 07 yukon/tahoe leather 3rd row install
now that i'm looking at those pics i don't think those are gonna work.
the newer tahoes/yukons have the recessions and divets in the bed already. these brackets are made for the newer trucks with the beds pre-fabbed. otherwise the bars from the seats have no clearance to hook under. whatcha guys think?

Re: 07 yukon/tahoe leather 3rd row install
someone used to sell the factory brackets, recess and all for about $100 or so.

Re: 07 yukon/tahoe leather 3rd row install
They won't work for the newer style seats, only the pre-2000.

If your going to put a cage in that rig maybe you can incorprate seat mounts along with the cage? Then again it doesn't sound like you will be offorad much with this truck so my thoughts may be overkill for you. Good Luck Post up pics when you getum in

as far as the cage, yeah it's just gonna be behind the seats to the rear of truck bed. you're right, this thing is more of a pavement pounder than anything. will definetely post the pics when completed. thanks
