What did you get done? 09/30

I spent the week running to volleyball games, and trying to get ready to leave town next weekend to attend the Goodguys show.

I got the seats that I bought from Jeff in the middle of the week (bigblock73). They were all wrapped up and sitting on my front porch on Wednesday. I'm not sure what I am going to do with them yet, but the deal was good and I have always wanted a set so now I have them.

Saturday I went out to Old Town Spring to the Longhorn Rod run. I spent a few hours checking out the hot rods, visiting with friends, and having lunch with old buddies.

Saturday evening I cleaned up my 77 Cheyenne getting it ready for Sunday at the rod run. I got up early and hit the road, only to get rained on about half way there. When I got to the show it quit raining so I dried it off.

The paint was all streaked up so I decided to put a coat of "quick-wax" on it. Then it rained again. So I dried it again. Then it rained again. So I dried it again.

After doing this 3 times I said screw it and walked around taking pictures. Unfortunately I failed to notice that my camera settings had accidentally been changed so my pictures sorta SUCK.

What did you get done?

Re: What did you get done? 09/30

i went to a local car show sat morning.still just a spectator. then came home and changed oil.when test driving after the oil change i gunned it and busted my heater core. not sure if the two are related.

watched AUBURN beat FLORIDA. WAR EAGLE!!!!

sunday got up and started taking out the old heater core.that was a half a day job. but i'm really proud because usually my projects cost me double. once where i try to fix and then pay someone to fix what i broke. while @ oreillys i seen a grant steering wheel that i had been wanting for $45 so i threw it in the basket.

Re: What did you get done? 09/30

Got the distributor changed out in my truck. It ran way better for a little while and really seemed to like the new advance curve, but then the junky Dynomax headers burned a spark plug boot and I drove it home on 7 cylinders.

Still on the quest for some decently designed headers for these trucks.

Re: What did you get done? 09/30

well i can finally post in here cause i bought a truck of this genre.
Saturday was dedicated to the grandkids as we took them to BabysRUs and had halloween photographs took of them in their costumes. We then went out to dinner
Today i did the usual house maintenance and then i had to take the puppy back to the kennel so he could get a checkup and a shot. In three weeks i need to go back and get more boosters and rabies things
I spent a good deal of time doing online insurance quotes for the 82 which i think im going to put on my wifes insurance at the upstate address and i also did some searching including some of our board vendors to find some parts and i will say that Josh and the mods have done a great job of making a complete consise list of the vendors making it real easy to look for people and parts. I met one guy who seems to be exactly what im looking for and ill be placing an order soon
Tomorrow i have to look forward to painting the front of a house and some tall ladder work and i hate that kind of thing. In addition i have to get hold of ID cards and get the truck registered so i can take possession of it on Tuesday
then tuesday i am leaving for a week upstate to deal with some issues there so ill see ya in a little over a week
oh yeah today i also suffered the inevitable when my NYMets blew the season. I hope some serious changes are made with management during the off season such as the manager and the aquisition/trade guy omar maniya....If we are stuck with Willie Randolph someone needs to teach him how to pull a pitcher out of the game before we become five runs or more down... enough said on this subject have a great one all

Re: What did you get done? 09/30

Went junkyarding with three friends on Friday...found and purchased a bunch of stuff...some for my '73, some to sell. Other than that, it rained all weekend...so I did some misc house chores/projects.

Ken, have you opened and inspected the seats yet? Just want to make sure they made it OK and that you are satisfied.

Re: What did you get done? 09/30

Stayed home sick Friday. First snow!! Didn't stick. Took the boy and his friends to Hooters in Sacramento for his 18th birthday.

Replaced my radiator in the 80 K10.

IMPORTANT SUMMIT RACING TIP!! Their Proline Radiators are slightly mis-represented on their website. I picked up a PLI-433730 Was too tall, 22.25 vs 19.25 online. Was alluminum and plastic vs Copper & brass online. I let them know about this. The had NO Copper/brass for the same price. So they knocked $65 bucks off and got me a 3 row Plastic and aluminum. I had contacted proline, they said if I had issue the this material thay would extend the 12 month warranty. That said a lot to me.

Installed like butta!!

BTW - anyone ever seen the fan shroud halves factory STAPLED??

Re: What did you get done? 09/30

These past few weeks I have been working on getting the Crew cab cleaned out. This weekend I scuffed up the rusted areas of the floorboards and coated them with a rust sealer converter and one it dried I covered it with some white Durabak liner. I also started looking for some interior panels to put some trim in the truck and a headliner. I also have some carpet and kick panels coming for it this week. Plus I picked up a overhead console for it.

I also recieved all the parts necessary to complete the TPI conversion to rear exit. Got all the parts painted up and should start putting every thing back together. I hope to attempt to tap and plug the front feed portion of the fuel rail shortly.

Actually I got the 1st set that went, but that's not relivent.

If you are going to get a set custom covered there are tons of options. I wanted these in the event that I wanted a "restored" set.

Truck-related - bumped base timing to 14*BTDC, replaced the 6.5"Hg power valve with an 8.5"Hg unit, and upped the primary jets to #62 - timing helped, power valve helped, jets are too much - tonight I'm gonna put the #60s back in and swap the 160F thermostat with a 195F, tis cold out and I don't need the small thermostat no more.

I installed a set of H4 headlights and removed them after the stock headlight connector on the passenger side started melting. My next project is to upgrade the wiring and install a set of relays.

Got my frame painted along with part of the front crossmember. I can do the rest once it is back on the truck.

I plan on tearing apart the front suspension anyhow, so I didn't get too carried away with paining it.

I managed to get one of the gas tanks out of my truck, and swapped the sending unit to the new tank. Now once I figure out how to attach the straps, I'll put the new tank into place.
