Anybody have pics of Suburban Systems
I have an 82 sub and it has turned into somewhat of a party wagon, does anyone have any good ideas about speaker location without cutting into the doors? I can squeeze some in the dash, and I could probably do some mid range with the subs in the back, but I need ideas for speakers for the center passengers...
thanks for any imput |

Re: Anybody have pics of Suburban Systems
I think a set of 6x9's in some decent size boxes placed in the rear and given adequate power would fill the middle to rear nicely. With 6x9's, power is the key. Head units just don't have enough juice to put them in their sweet spot, you need an amp.

Re: Anybody have pics of Suburban Systems
Depending on what you want to spend, they make kick panels to house 5.25 speakers. I don't know how good they fit, but that is an option for the fronts. As for the back, you can make or have made for you fiberglass speaker pods that could mount virtually anywhere you would like. I am unsure if that helps, but Good Luck with your project.

Re: Anybody have pics of Suburban Systems
So I'm browsing and searching and browsing some more.... I'm hoping someone can point me in the right direction. I have an 89 Chevy Suburban that I have a decent sized budget for a stereo install. I'm wondering what others have done so I can begin to put the components together. Any help will be appreciated.
thanks |

Re: Anybody have pics of Suburban Systems
the PO had the "one screw will do" idea in the kick panels
they were seized and crunchy.... i used like bailing wire to hold them in place and cut old metal grills to protect them it's a stock radio from a 99 olds wired to a switch up is to the lighter power(don't have to leave keys in truck) down is key as before middle is off "quickly" /great at drive throughs or to answer the phone

Re: Anybody have pics of Suburban Systems
I didn't want to cut holes in mine either. So in my '70, I integrated the system into the headliner and console.
I put two 5 1/4" speakers in the center console by your leg; two 6"x9" speakers in the middle headliner, over the second row seats; two 5 1/4" speakers in the rear of the headliner, over the cargo area, and two 10" subs in the rear storage compartments that I built. The amp is hidden in the console and the head unit, tv and dvd player are built into an overhead console. I'll try to attach a few pics...

Re: Anybody have pics of Suburban Systems
That is sick, did you make the headliners and overhead consoles as well? What materials did you use? How long did it take you? I really like your set-up, way better than having to cut holes in the doors!
Very well done! |

Re: Anybody have pics of Suburban Systems
jimmydean: thanks for the pics, but I was hoping for something a little more streamline, not necessarily stealth, but not as in your face as that. I have a lot of stuff to carry in the burb: shotguns, coolers, food boxes, tents, etc etc.
thanks again. |
